Herdade Canal Caveira is a distinguished family winery situated at the crossroads of the Setúbal Peninsula and Alentejo coastal wine regions, near the foothills of the Serra de Grândola.

Spanning 45 hectares, the estate combines 25 hectares of vineyards with diverse Mediterranean flora including olive and orange trees, cork oaks, and pine forests.

Founded by José Paiva and managed by Vanda Paz Paiva—one of Portugal’s early female winemakers—the estate cultivates 14 grape varieties on sandy soils with vines some over two decades old. Since opening its modern winery in 2016, Herdade Canal Caveira has blended tradition with contemporary winemaking techniques, including innovative practices such as aging wines in the ocean, which imparts unique texture and flavor.

Visitors are invited to explore the estate through guided tours, tastings accompanied by regional tapas, and scenic vineyard picnics featuring local delicacies and estate wines.
