France, Champagne, Pol Couronne - The Art of Sabering
Enjoy a unique experience in the city center of Reims, where the rich heritage of Champagne meets the thrill of sabering.
Sabering is the ceremonial art of opening a Champagne bottle with a sword, a tradition believed to date back to Napoleon’s cavalry celebrating victories during the French Revolution. The technique involves sliding the blunt edge of a saber along the seam of the bottle’s neck, striking precisely at the intersection of the glass seam and lip, causing the top of the bottle to break away cleanly, propelled by the pressure inside.
Champagne Pol Couronne invites you to discover this spectacular tradition in the boutique or, weather permitting, outside in front of the boutique with the stunning backdrop of the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
After the sabering, relax and enjoy the freshly opened bottle of Champagne!
