Wine has been crafted at Castillo Perelada since the Middle Ages, with historical documents attesting to its rich heritage. In 1923, Miguel Mateu acquired this monumental estate, aiming to revive its ancient winemaking tradition. Today, Perelada blends this legacy with cutting-edge technology, capturing the unique nuances of Empordà’s soils and vines to produce exceptional wines. The new Perelada Winery, designed by architects RCR, embodies the family’s century-long commitment to quality, innovation, and respect for the landscape. It is the first winery in Europe certified LEED® BD+C for sustainability and energy efficiency, with a capacity to process 2.7 million kg of grapes and produce over 2 million bottles annually. Beyond production, it serves as a premier wine tourism destination, offering tastings, tours, and cultural experiences that celebrate Perelada’s historic and innovative spirit.
