Winery Description:

Scalarea Estate, nestled just outside Heraklion and a stone’s throw from the ancient site of Knossos in Crete, is a breathtaking vineyard jewel in the PDO region of Archanes. This 6.6-hectare estate enjoys a unique terroir sheltered from southern Libyan winds, with refreshing sea breezes that nurture both native and international grape varieties such as Vidiano, Kotsifali, Chardonnay, and Syrah. Founded by Boutari in 1990, Scalarea combines tradition with cutting-edge winemaking in its state-of-the-art winery. Visitors can immerse themselves in an enriching experience with guided tours through the vineyards, production facilities, and cellar, learning about Cretan viticulture and wine crafting. Tastings include a selection of premium wines paired expertly with artisanal local cheeses, cold cuts, and olives from the estate.
